Deadly Barks: Acousmaticity and Post-Animality in Lucrecia Martel's La ciénaga - Film-Philosophy

Deadly Barks: Acousmaticity and Post-Animality in Lucrecia Martel's La ciénaga Abstract Acousmatic sound is often defined as a sound whose source is unseen, that is, in terms of a separation between the senses of hearing and seeing. Discussions about the acousmatic have generally focused on the ontological relation between the sonic effect and the visually unavailable source that produces it. This article examines the function of acousmatic so...

Primate Chess – Neurodiversity, social conflict, and it's expression independent of group.

Related to the non-literal language post. Here are some interesting things I should have put into my last post that have to do with language and non-literal language that I believe are useful. These are examples for getting an idea about how we transmit information to one another, and how anatomy is used in language. *The first is a university news article on a study looking at brain regions activated when hearing metaphors. CLAS 3381 | caseyduehackney

CLAS 3381 From Homer to Hollywood This course integrates literature and film as an introduction to ancient Greek literature and culture. With one or two exceptions, these films do not adapt particular works of Greek literature, but make use of important themes developed in antiquity, shed light on complex structures embedded in the literature, or otherwise translate and allude in meaningful ways to the texts that we will discuss in connection with the films. As students you will be asked...

Drive-In movie theater in Virginia

I wonder if this presages some revival of the drive-in movie. I also wonder if it might create a new genre that emphasizes car-confined film watching or is optimized for that experience.
