Anton Corbijn to Direct Switzerland - Set to Shoot This Fall
I exclusively reported last year about this project. Dutch filmmaker Anton Corbijn is preparing to shoot a new film, his first feature in over nine years, titled "Switzerland." We now know that production is expected to begin in the fall of 2024.
The film will tackle a fictional version of author, Patricia Highsmith, involved in a stressful relationship with her ambitious literary agent. Highsmith, who spent the last days of her life in Switzerland, will be played by British actress Helen Mirren. Alden Ehrenreich ("Oppenheiemer") will be her co-star in the role of her agent.
The script, described as a "thriller," was written by author-turned-screenwriter Joanna Murray Smith (1988’s "Georgia") and "promises a mixture of suspense and psychological depth, reflecting Highsmith's haunting literary style".
Corbijn, a noted photographer-turned-director, is known for such acclaimed films as "Control," "A Most Wanted Man" and "The American." He’s been MIA since 2015, but a comeback is always welcome for this interesting filmmaking stylist.
